- head of state or head of government;
- member of the executive council of government or member of a legislative assembly;
- deputy minister or holder of an office of equivalent rank;
- ambassador or attaché or advisor to an ambassador;
- officer with the rank of general or higher;
- manager of a state-owned company or bank;
- head of a government agency;
- judge of the Supreme Court, Constitutional Court or other court of last resort;
- leader or president of a political party represented in a legislative assembly.
These people are EPVs regardless of their citizenship, residency status or place of birth.
